A solitary soul, this Woodland Wizard wanders the woods replenishing his supplies of medicinal and magical herbs in all kinds of weather, checking on the local creatures and making sure that no evil comes to disturb the peace and quiet.
But this day, as he pauses at the top his path and looks at the valley below, he senses that something is disturbing the tranquility of his domain. A frog uses the Wizard’s gathering sack as a safe haven, sensing the nearby presence of evil. Alarmed, the Wizard halts and seeks to identify from which direction danger comes. Is it danger to the woods themselves or the creatures under his care? Or is it a more personal danger? From his intent expression, this isn’t going to end up just another carefree walk in the woods.
Note: Cypress knees are particularly difficult to carve in detail. Because of the way they grow, the grain direction changes unexpectedly every quarter inch resulting in tearouts unless extreme care is taken. The rewards are unexpected graining patterns which enhance the figure.
